Smokin!

Saturday was absolutely beautiful. We went to farmers market - check out digitaldubuque.com for photos. I took most of them this time. Then off to an opening of the Art on the River ceremony and to view outdoor sculptures.

Came home and worked on the garage cleaning everything out. Killed 2 mice. Tore out my flowers and replaced them with mums around my sidewalk.

Smokin. Ron bought an electric smoker at Cabelas and had to try it out on Sat before our party on Sunday. He made brisket and some ribs. Yummy.

Set up for our BBQ party on Sunday am and help Ron get his meat going. It rained off and on all day and I knew it would - so we set up everything in the garage. We had country style pork ribs, brisket, smoked and deep fried chicken wings, rib tips, baby back ribs, and pork tenderloin. I am still full. Did a movie in the garage and a fire on the driveway. Took me til 1pm today to get it all cleaned up. Or at least most of it. Still a little meat left over so we are doing a bit more ribs and some wings today.

Thank you to my friend Jeff who took the photo above and sent it to me by email this am. He called a little bit ago and said he could still taste those wings. He helped Ron do a bunch of cooking. It was so nice I could actually talk to people and sit for a moment. I am usually in constant motion.

A sad condolence goes out to the family and friends of Steve Irwin - aka The Crocodile Hunter. He was killed today in a freak kind of accident where a sting ray tail punctured his heart while he was doing some filming. Ron said not since 1946 has someone been killed by a stingray. Mitchel used to say he wanted to be the croc hunter and watched his show all the time. He was playing with his croc hunter remote control truck yesterday.

  • Sorry we missed your BBQ...we really wanted to come, but family obligations dictated otherwise.
