Fall

Must be fall. Yet another smaller mouse cast its fate upon my trap in the garage. Has been a few days and I had hoped they were all gone. Guess not.

It has been raining since early Sunday am. We have over 3 1/2 inches in the rain guage. I baked some chicken breasts in the oven along with some spaghetti squash to serve tomorrow night. Broccoli from the garden. Apple crisp from our tree. We have a grafted tree like I remember from when I was a kid. I did not ask Ron to buy one, he wanted one on his own. This is the first year we have had such ideal weather. Consistant moisture. As I was cutting them up, I asked Willie to bring me some that were on the deck railing. They were different from the rest. These almost seemed like Red Delicious where the others seemed like sour Jonathans.

Been working on homework and answering phone calls all night. Willie labored through homework and Mitchel forgot his at school. He spent about 1/2 hour making phone calls til he found someone with the info and books to borrow. Ron just took him to go get them. I told him if he did not have what he needed to research or find someone that did.

  • Last night when I was talking to my new "girlfriend" on the phone (you'll have to ask me about Melissa the next time we talk) I saw one of my cats playing with something in the corner of my bedroom.

Then I realized it was a baby MOUSE Murdock was playing with, and then I could hear the tiny squeaking.

I quickly called Aletheia to tell her what was happening, and she suggested I let the mouse live because it was a baby.

Silly me. For the rest of the night, I kept awakening every two hours or so to the sounds of one of my cats re-finding the baby mouse and chasing it all over my room (neither of my cats has claws, so they just wanted to play with Mousy).

Needless to say, I was exhausted when I got up for my manager's meeting in the AM.

    Sigh . . .
