Happy 4th of July

Ok, Ron calls this one Man VS Nature. Mother nature gave us a show of her own right next to the fireworks on the river. They started the show 20 minutes early and it finished just at the same time a downpour started. We ended up with 2 3/4 of rain in about 2 hours time! We were close to our car, many others had to walk quite a distance in the rain.

We also made it to the Ham House for an old fashioned ice cream social. They had period costumes, kids games new and old, reinactment people and a canon firing. The guy who was supposed to do a demo of a field surgery from the Civil war got mad because there was no bails of hay to do his surgeryproper! These guys are majorly into their craft.

Came home and made burgers on the grill and fireworks in the driveway of our own. Mitchel had been talking non-stop for days about lighting off fireworks here. He even went online to see if there was a way to get a pyrotechnics license so it was legal for us to do them - how funny. My neighbor dropped off 2 pizzas to us. Many thanks Sofia! Kids and adults loved it.
